2019 Session Administrative Assistant - Temporary Part-Time Position for the 2019 Session 

The Virginia Senate Finance Committee staff is seeking a skilled, highly motivated and experienced professional session assistant to fill a temporary part-time position in preparation for, and during, the 2019 session of the General Assembly.  The position will run from December 1, 2018 through approximately March 1, 2019, with flexible hours during the month of December, and at least 40 hours per week during the legislative session. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), experienced and skilled in office procedures, maintain confidentiality and discretion, and be able to interact effectively with high level officials and the public in a non-partisan atmosphere.  Managing a variety of assignments with a high degree of accuracy, requiring minimal supervision, and adherence to tight deadlines are required, particularly during the legislative session.  Duties include the tracking of Committee legislation with a heavy focus on proofreading, legislative research, data entry and other general office duties.  Legal experience a plus. This is a non-benefited position with an hourly salary rate, based on experience.  Parking will be provided.

The Senate rules establish a Committee on Finance, to consider the budget of the Commonwealth; all taxation and all matters concerning the expenditure of funds of the Commonwealth; general and special revenues of the Commonwealth; bills, resolutions, and petitions for appropriations; and claims. The Committee is composed of sixteen members of the Senate.
